NUUM's Social Science Certificate Program aims to teach students about society and human behaviors as well as how they behave and influence the world around us.
Our Objectives
- To equip students with conceptual and empirical knowledge needed to understand challenges for international development and to rethink and reflect on current issues in development
- To build up the foundation of knowledge and analytical skills to explore the contemporary social and political circumstances of MyanmarÂ
- To be able to design & deliver clear, appropriate audience-centered presentations
- To understand the core economic terms, the basic concepts of microeconomics and models of how individuals and firms interact within markets.

International Development
Explore major social science theories and their contribution to development paradigms, including modernization, dependency, liberalism, alternative development and post-development.
Introduction to Sociology & Anthropology
Aims to improve knowledge and skills to examine the ways people experience and transform social relations in the areas of families, ethnicity, religions, norms, ritual, and practices in society.
Public Speaking & Communication
Different types of speeches including self-introduction, demonstrative, informative, persuasive, and special occasional speeches are introduced, equipping you with skills in making speeches, using visual aids, and effective word choice.
Introduction to Economics
With the basic knowledge of economics, the economic principles and techniques of economic theory, it emphasizes the function of individual decision-maker, the nature and function of the product market and the role of government to promote the economy. Also emphasizes on understanding introductory macroeconomics including national income, total employment, inflation, etc.
