Program Objectives
ECPP aims to prepare students ready for the College Admissions as well as help identify degree programs in accordance with the students’ interests in the United States, Europe, Asia, and elsewhere in the world.
English and College Prep Program designed to provide continuing learning opportunities as well as equitable and high quality academic programs for all Myanmar citizens whose education has been disrupted due to the ongoing crisis. Formerly known as the English Program, the English and College Prep is now redesigned as a certificate program. The program will offer credit courses in terms of traditional English courses and Standardized tests prep classes. ECPP consists of three major components. Available courses under each component of ECPP are as follows:
Traditional English Courses
General English courses are three-levels courses: pre-intermediate, intermediate and upper-intermediate. The courses will provide students with the continuous improvement of their English language skills in basic daily and academic life. Students will be learning English communication skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing essential for every day interactions through interactive activities in a meaningful academic context. Students will receive the opportunities to get involved in the formal presentation, debate, and discussion through the interactive activities in the classroom. The main goal is to enhance students’ English language proficiencies to get ready for academic learning in the universities.
The aim of this course is to help students understand the basics communication skills in business context by using professional level English language. Students will be introduced to the concepts of business English in varying conventions in listening, reading, writing and speaking. They will also learn business related lexis and practical grammar to be able to write professional letters for any situations. In addition to business English knowledge, students will learn the importance of business ethics and its implications in communications, CV writing and interview preparation for job readiness and presentation skills in order to give any professional presentations in a professional manner in any situations.
This course provides international students with the help for their written assignments in English at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. It helps the students who often find that writing in their courses is very challenging. Apart from the vocabulary of academic English, the students can learn new conventions of style, referencing and format. To avoid plagiarism in their writing, there are also units on the key skills of paraphrasing, summarizing and referencing. The final part of this course provides a range of writing models for both short and longer essays and reports.
