Scholarship and financial aid
At NUUM, we put every effort to make education affordable and accessible. Currently, all eligible students enrolled with courses and certificate programs, as well as all researchers and scholars participating in the Center for Research, Policy, and Innovation (CRPI) and NUUM Capstone Project are awarded full tuition scholarships.
Scholarships are announced as soon as the student admission interview has been conducted which should occur before course registration and the start of each semester.
Here are a few FAQs:
What is the tuition and fees?
Tuition fees are $150 per credit hour. If a student takes one course that carries 3 credit hours, he or she will need to pay $450 for the course. However, both need-based and merit-based scholarships are available. Students who demonstrate an inability to pay tuition may be awarded full need-based scholarships.
Are scholarships available?
Both need-based and merit-based scholarships will be available. Students who demonstrate an inability to pay tuition may be awarded full need-based scholarships.
Need-based and merit-based scholarships are available for certificate courses offered by the National University of the Union of Myanmar – Global Campus (NUUM). The maximum amount of the scholarship is equivalent to the maximum tuition fees the students are required to pay. The duration of the scholarship is for the duration of the program in which the student is enrolled.
Need-based scholarships
All students who demonstrate that they are unable to pay the tuition fees will be considered for need-based scholarships.
The decision will be made based on the information provided in the student application to NUUM and in the interview. The student may be requested to provide additional evidence of not being able to afford tuition fees (such as parents' full income) during the interview.
Merit-based scholarships
Merit-based scholarships will be awarded based on consideration of the following:
(1) academic records or transcripts,
(2) personal statement (essay),
(3) extra-curricular activities (such as
community service), and
(4) letter of recommendation from NUUM or community leaders.
Termination of Scholarship
Continuation of the scholarship requires that the student maintain good academic standing (regular and satisfactory class attendance, passing exams, etc.) and good behavioral standings (for example, not facing any disciplinary action by NUUM or any other relevant authority).
Every semester, students’ status will be evaluated and if a student does not meet the criteria for good academic standing and behavioral standing, his/her scholarship will be terminated.
