NUUM Structure and Offices

The University of the Union of Myanmar – Global Campus

The NUUM structure has been designed to achieve the effective and efficient delivery of high quality education and functioning of the organizational development in flexible and impactful ways while maintaining its academic and institutional freedom. The following offices have been formed to support achieving the stated goals.

 

University Administration Offices and Teams

    • Office of the President: Lead and coordinate strategic level work of NUUM; manage the NUUM Facebook page and website; lead the accreditation process. Strategic planning and policy development.

    • Office of Finance and Administration:
      1. Operational planning.
      2. Finance team: All financial management
      3. Admin team: Includes managing permissions to use copyrighted textbooks; manage software licenses.
      4. HR team: Keep track of fellows and instructors (in liaison with the Certificate Program Directors), participate in planning for recruitment of fellows, instructors, and staff for the next semester, participate in student recruitment, coordinate and keep track of training of fellows  

    • Office of External Relations and Development
      1. Roles of the Director and general support team: Build and manage relationships with key partners; take the lead in fundraising and writing grants to large donors
      2. Development team: Keep track of grant opportunities; prepare communications for funders; participate in the development of grant proposals; generate ideas for fundraising; conduct fundraising activities; prepare reports on progress towards fundraising goals
      3. Public relations team: Content creation (brochures, flyers), event management; support the President’s Officer in social media activities; website management.
      4. Conference planning: Plan and execute conferences (together with instructors and program directors)

    • Office of Technology and Information Services
      1. Roles of the Director and general support team: Ensure sufficient IT infrastructure for the university operations; ensure that the IT system is secure; explore the most suitable LMS for the next semester with a longer term view.  
      2. Website Maintenance team: Support technical aspects of website development.
      3. Data storage, information security, audio visual, and learning management system (LMS): NUUM use Zoom and Google Classroom. The team will coordinate the creation of each classroom with the same domain and email addresses for instructors and students; prepare audio-visual materials and distribute them internally; manage data storage; follow up security procedures and ensure that everyone is using them; provide technical support related to IT to students and staff; provide orientation/training to students and staff when needed.

    • Office of Legal Affairs (provides counsel on legal matters to the university)

    • Office of Academic Affairs
      1. Roles of the Director and general support team: Identify training needs, secure trainers, and implement trainings for fellows. Coordinate with external evaluators.
      2. Student recruitment, retention, and support: Participate in strategies to recruit students for next semester and plan for the process of recruitment. Provide support to students as needed.
      3. Student records and administration team: Keep track of all student records.

      5. Academic Standards Committee (see separate TOR.
      6. Accreditation Committee: Work with the President’s Office in the institutional accreditation process. Form an independent IRB committee for IRB approvals.  
      7. IRB Committee: Develop and implement procedures for IRB approvals.
      8. MEAL team: Participate in the process of course and programs evaluation. Collect data for use in monitoring and learning.
      9. Library and resources team: Collect materials and digital resources and make them available to students and staff. Coordinate with the IT team to explore the creation of an online library
